Ruan is proud to be a Silver Sponsor for the 2022 Meals from the Heartland Hunger Fight. The Hunger Fight is a four-day event that encourages volunteers to help package meals for families in Iowa, America, and the around the world. The goal for the 15th annual Hunger Fight is to bring together 4,000 volunteers to package more than 4 million meals. Ruan was able to support Meals from the Heartland by providing transportation for several meal inputs that will be packaged at this year’s event.
“With the increased costs in transportation, we are blessed to have Ruan’s partnership in helping us transport products to prepare for the event and keep expenses down,” said Greg DeHaai, Executive Director at Meals from the Heartland.
Thank you to several operations team members who worked diligently to coordinate transportation, and to our truck drivers Thomas Fourez and Terry Owens for delivering 153,600 pounds of soy product to the event in downtown Des Moines.
As a sponsor, Ruan was invited to participate in the One Step Challenge to kick off the four-day event. This challenge required a team of 10 Hunger Fighters from Ruan’s Des Moines Campus to compete against teams from other sponsor companies to see which could package 72 meals the fastest. This volunteer opportunity was a great way to kick-off the Hunger Fight with some friendly competition.
Thank you, Meals from the Heartland, for all you do in our community and for allowing us to be a part of the 2022 Hunger Fight.
