Ruan is celebrating another successful campaign benefitting the United Way of Central Iowa! Our annual campaign raises funds for the United Way of Central Iowa and organizations it supports and provides our Des Moines team members the opportunity to make a positive impact in our community by coming together for an amazing cause.
Our campaign theme “Groove On Ruan” was filled with music inspired events to raise money during the 10-day campaign including Ringo Bingo, music trivia, Message In A Bottle candygrams, band t-shirt dress down day, a craft and bake sale, and more! Those activities, combined with our annual silent auction and team member pledges, raised thousands of dollars for the United Way of Central Iowa. With Ruan’s dollar-for-dollar company match, we raised more than $325,000!
On top of the fundraising events, team members volunteered during a Give Back Day, where we collected recycled t-shirts to create no-sew t-shirt bags for the Bidwell Riverside Center Food and Clothing Pantry in Des Moines. The pantry uses 120 t-shirt bags per day, and we were able to donate more than 150 to the pantry.
“The success of the campaign is a testament to our team’s ability to come together for a great cause while having fun together,” said Vice President of Operations Jeremy Carmichael, who served as co-chair of the campaign. “Thank you to all Ruan team members for their continued support of United Way and our community every year.”
The United Way of Central Iowa works to bring people together from every part of our community—donors, volunteers, non-profit organizations, and more—to identify gaps and best leverage points to create a sustainable impact on our community. United Way also invests in hundreds of local nonprofit programs focused on creating progress in the five elements of a thriving community: Essential Needs, Early Childhood Success, Education Success, Economic Opportunity, and Health and Wellbeing.
