What is the favorite part of your job?
My favorite part of my job is assuring that our customers are scheduled with a timely pickup so that they are not inconvenienced or delayed in any way.
Describe a typical day.
A typical day for a dispatch coordinator usually involves a lot of phone communication with employees and customers. You may have to readjust your scheduled pickups multiple times to ensure that the customers are serviced on time. You will also have to think quickly and outside the box when problems occur. As a dispatch coordinator, you will also work with the driver team to make sure that they stay safe and follow DOT compliance while being on duty.
What challenges you?
One challenge that I face every day in my job is ensuring that I have looked over the routing schedule for the day and try to see if there are any changes that I could make that would be more beneficial for the company.
What is a useful tip for someone who is considering a dispatch coordinator position?
A useful tip that I could give to someone considering a dispatch coordinator position is to be sure that you have good people skills. During your day, you will be working with all types of different personalities over the phone and in person.
What do like about Ruan’s culture?
One thing about Ruan’s culture that I like is that they give back to the community in many ways, like through Habitat for Humanity, Meals from the Heartland, United Way of Central Iowa, and the Food Bank of Iowa.
