The transportation and logistics industry plays a significant role in the fight against human trafficking. As traffickers often move their victims, truck drivers are uniquely positioned to identify potential trafficking situations at truck stops, gas stations, and along delivery routes in local neighborhoods and commercial areas. Recognizing our crucial role in this battle, Ruan recently partnered with our dedicated customer, Linde, to host a full-day Truckers Against Trafficking (TAT) event. This event featured the Freedom Drivers Project (FDP) mobile exhibit at our operation in East Chicago, IN, aimed to empower truck drivers and all individuals with the training and tools needed to prevent human trafficking.
The FDP walk-through mobile exhibit travels across the U.S. into Canada, raising awareness and educating the public about the realities of domestic human trafficking. During the recent TAT event, over 85 attendees explored the exhibit, which showcased artifacts from real-life survivor cases, inspiring stories of heroes in the fight, and information on how the transportation and logistics industry is combating human trafficking. The exhibit also included ways audiences can step up and make a difference.
“This event was an outstanding demonstration of Ruan’s Guiding Principles and long-standing partnership with Linde, which began over 25 years ago,” said Operation Team Leader Mike Root. “We had a great time and excellent participation!”
In addition to the exhibit, attendees from various Ruan and Linde teams—both local and from other regions—were invited to enjoy food and refreshments, participate in raffles and door prizes, and engage in social networking.
As a proud sponsor of TAT, we are grateful for the opportunity to unite with Linde in spreading awareness about the harsh realities of human trafficking and working to protect vulnerable individuals. We sincerely thank all attendees for their participation and look forward to future TAT events with our enduring partners.
