Recently, Ruan team members traveled to Kansas City to attend the American Truck Historical Society's (ATHS) 2024 Hall of Fame Inductee Ceremony, where they accepted two prestigious awards. The ATHS, known for its commitment to preserving the legacy of trucks, the transportation industry, and its pioneering figures, operates the world’s largest repository of historic trucking artifacts, featuring a museum and library.
Ruan’s first award was the 75 Year Company Award, presented to a company that has been in continuous, successful operation for 75 years or more, has maintained the same name, and operated at least one truck for hire. “This recognition is important to us because it represents decades of hard work and commitment to safety, reliability, and innovation,” said Ruan’s Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Jeff Harpole, who accepted the award on behalf of Ruan.
In addition to the Company Award, John Ruan Sr. was inducted into the American Trucking and Industry Leader Hall of Fame, an honor recognizing his profound impact on the transportation industry. John Ruan Sr. joins the likes of top industry pioneers in the Hall of Fame who have laid the groundwork for the industry. However, it wasn’t just his business contributions that awarded him a spot in the Hall of Fame. The ceremony also highlighted Ruan Sr.’s many philanthropic contributions, including the World Food Prize Haul of Laureates, John Ruan Multiple Sclerosis Charity, and the Ruan Neurological Center at Mercy Medical Center. “Beyond his business accomplishments, John Ruan Sr. was a man who believed in giving back. His philanthropy extended beyond the trucking industry, with contributions to education, healthcare, and the arts,” said Harpole. “Our founder’s legacy is woven into the fabric of our business, and we are incredibly proud of his lasting impact.”
