In late October, Ruan corporate team members
joined forces to raise money for the United Way of Central Iowa. The Ruan team
raised a record of more than $168,000 during the 2015 campaign! In addition, 217
people participated during the campaign, with many of them increasing their
previous giving level.
“The money and time you give does make a difference in the community; all of us have the ability to make a difference,” said Ruan President of Dedicated Contract Carriage Ralph Arthur, at the Appreciation Breakfast following the campaign. “I want to thank all of you for demonstrating how important philanthropy is here at Ruan."
The highlight of the campaign was Ruan’s Impact Days, which featured volunteer opportunities with United Way partners across Central Iowa. Throughout the campaign, 94 Ruan team members volunteered for a total of approximately 305 hours. Organizations that benefited from Impact Days include: Courage League Sports, Link Associates, Des Moines Area Religious Council, Central Iowa Works and more. From yard work to organizing donations, team members appreciated the opportunity to give back to the community on a hands-on level. A clothing drive was also held for gently used and new professional clothing items for Men on the Move and Dress for Success.
The rest of the campaign included the sixth annual bake sale, which earned an incredible $1,887 for United Way, compared to $1,555 in 2014. For more information on the United Way of Central Iowa and for ways to get involved, visit their website.
