Perspective: State of the Union Highlights Trucking

On February 7, Ruan President and American Trucking Associations (ATA) Chairman Dan Van Alstine had the opportunity to attend President Joe Biden’s State of the Union address in Washington, DC. Upon his return to Des Moines, Van Alstine reflected on his experience at the annual event. Beyond the pomp and circumstance, and the drama that inevitably surrounds the State of the Union, successes were celebrated and concerns were addressed. Dan assessed those concerns as they relate to the transportation industry, specifically the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and the Ocean Shipping Reform Act, both of which the ATA helped secure passage.
