Ruan’s Des Moines campus team members recently participated in our annual campaign to raise funds for the United Way of Central Iowa (UWCI). We had a $250,000 fundraising goal this year. We are proud to announce that with our company match, our team raised $267,547 during our 2019 campaign, exceeding our goal by more than $17,000! Ruan matched all team member donations, dollar-for-dollar, so every dollar a team member donated resulted in two dollars going directly to those in need in our community.
During the 10-day campaign, team members could participate in a number of activities and donate in a variety of ways, including penny wars between departments, a corn hole tournament, and a bake sale. Hundreds of team members participated in the campaign through these activities and online pledges, including many first-time donors, and new Leadership Circle donors, LINC members, and Women United members. UWCI is a voluntary, non-profit organization that brings together community volunteers and agencies to provide health and human services to individuals who live or work in central Iowa. The organization supports those individuals in the areas of income, health, and education through its own initiatives and a variety of participating organizations. Ruan’s support of the organization is reflective of the philanthropic spirit our founder instilled in the company, and it lives on today.
“Our team members donated more this year than ever before. We are proud to present the United Way of Central Iowa with this substantial donation and know it will go far to assist members of our community. We honored our founder in a significant way over the last few weeks and demonstrated that giving back to others is a very significant part of our culture,” said Tara Meier, campaign chair.
