Ruan looks forward each year to hosting our Top Technician Competition, which highlights our technicians’ skills and mastery of the industry’s latest diagnostic tools and technologies. Due to COVID-19 and with an abundance of caution, we replaced our in-person event with a virtual competition again this year. The competition kicked off by asking all Ruan technicians to complete a 100 question assessment test online. The top 10 scorers from that assessment advanced to our virtual portion of the competition, with testing provided by Ruan and a select group of our suppliers.
Out of all our competitors, James "JT" Wheetley of Cedar Falls, IA, took home first place for the fourth year in a row! Kristopher Jones of Ramsey, MN, took home second place, and Aaron Bomar of Braselton, GA, finished third.
In the final stage of the competition, each of the 10 qualifying techs were supervised by their service managers as they completed a task or written exam delivered by one of our vendors or team members. The six events and participating vendors were as follows:
-
Preventative Maintenance Inspection – Ruan
-
Tires and Wheels – Bridgestone Tires
-
Diagnostics – Truck Country Freightliner
-
Electrical – Purkeys Electrical
-
Warranty – Ruan
-
Ruan Maintenance Commitment – Ruan
Congratulations once again to the following 10 technicians who had the highest scores in the written exam and qualified to participate in the final virtual round of competition:
Our top three finishers, Wheetley, Jones, and Bomar, were each honored with a plaque and cash prize. All of our winners truly exemplify what it means to be a Ruan Top Tech!
Ruan is eager to host our Top Technician Competition again next year and continue to highlight the important work done by our valued technicians every day to keep our business moving. Thank you for all your hard work and dedication to keep our drivers safe!
