Ruan looks forward each July to hosting our Top Technician Competition, which highlights our technicians’ skills and mastery of the industry’s latest diagnostic tools and technologies. Due to COVID-19 and with an abundance of caution, we will replace our in-person competition with a virtual competition again this year.
First, our technicians completed an online written exam, consisting of 100 questions that test a range of maintenance knowledge. Congratulations to the following 10 technicians who had the highest scores in the written exam and qualified to participate in the final virtual round of competition:
A special shout-out to Allan Brinster of T730, who qualified for the final round but will be retiring this summer. Congratulations and thank you for your years of service!
In the weeks ahead, Ruan will conduct virtual events in cooperation with our vendors. Each of the 10 qualifying techs will be supervised by their service managers as they complete a task or written exam delivered by one of our vendors or team members. The six events and participating vendors are as follows:
-
Preventative Maintenance Inspection – Ruan
-
Tires and Wheels – Bridgestone
-
Diagnostics – Truck Country
-
Electrical – Purkeys
-
Warranty – Ruan
-
Ruan Maintenance Commitment – Ruan
The top three finishers of the virtual Top Technician Competition will receive a plaque and monetary award. The top three finishers will also compete in the TMCSuperTech 2021, North America’s premier skills competition for professional commercial vehicle technicians. The competition will be held in Cleveland, OH, September 12-16.
