In this Logistics of Logistics podcast hosted by Joe Lynch, Ruan's CEO Ben McLean discusses Ruan's founding, current solutions and Guiding Principles, and the road ahead for the company.
In the podcast, McLean details Ruan's story, one that started 90 years ago with our founder and first driver, John Ruan. John Ruan created a strong foundation and a culture that has enabled Ruan to grow into one of the country’s top family-owned, privately-held transportation and logistics companies today.
McLean joined Ruan in 2007 and served in a number of corporate and operational roles, including COO and CIO, before assuming his current role in 2015. Prior to joining Ruan, Ben assisted companies with mergers, acquisitions, and equity offerings at William Blair & Company in Chicago and the law firm of Cravath, Swaine & Moore in New York. He was raised in Grand Rapids, MI, and holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the Kellogg School of Management and a law degree from Northwestern University School of Law. He earned his undergraduate degree in computer engineering from Northwestern. McLean serves as a board member for UFP Industries and the American Transportation Research Institute, and he is a member of the Northwestern University Transportation Center Business Advisory Committee.
