In August, the American Trucking Associations (ATA) hosted its inaugural Women in Motion Symposium in Des Moines, IA. This event gathered influential women leaders from across the Midwest for a meaningful series of workshops and educational sessions. Ruan was honored to sponsor the day-and-a-half event, which aimed to advance discussions on pressing industry issues and fuel networking among colleagues.
Several Ruan team leaders participated at the event, where they engaged in thought-provoking discussions on key industry topics, including environmental concerns, tort reform, predatory towing, and talent retention strategies. The event also provided valuable opportunities to interact with policymakers.
“It was a great chance to network with other women in the industry, especially those in the Midwest region,” said Valerie Ng, Ruan Managed Transportation Business Supervisor. “Not only did we gain knowledge in the transportation industry, but I also walked away with new communication and leadership tools to help in my professional career.” Ng also noted how discussions at the symposium prompted her to consider how effective communication can help identify continuous improvement opportunities within our partnerships at Ruan. “Change is never easy, but asking questions makes it easier to identify improvement opportunities and positive feedback.”
Thank you to our team members who represented Ruan at this influential event. We admire the visionary individuals and companies driving positive change in the transportation and logistics industry and look forward to applying the symposium’s insights to continue contributing to impactful progress.
